Today we were supposed to move our main cow herd home from winter pasture so we can get ready for calving. Usually, this is very simple. We open the gates, say “go home” and they head out. Twice in the last five years they’ve even come home on their own, and both times on the exact day we were scheduled to move them. I know, creepy, right? Telepathic cows.
Anyway, today they decided they just didn’t know what to do, so I ended up walking and leading them home. It ended up being a three mile hike through the pasture, interspersed with occasional sprinting and arm waving. Not really a bad way to spend the day, though.
By the time we got home I was pooped, but I scarfed a Larabar, chugged some BCAA’s and hit the gym.
