Five rounds of
Farmer’s Carry, 50 yards (12kg/hand)
Rack Carry, 50 yards (12kg/hand)
Sled drag, 50 yards (tire + 25#)
Still hauling hay on the ranch, but it was a beautiful day so I decided to take my sled and bells along and do a workout in the hay field. The puppy is all about dragging and pulling stuff so she decided to get in on the action, too:
If the sled was a bit lighter I think she could entertain herself all day long with that.
As a rancher there are some days you question your sanity for doing what you do for a living. Say, for instance, it has snowed two feet overnight, the wind is blowing 30 mph, the cows are out of hay and you broke a hydraulic hose on the tractor, the pipe burst in the barn and it’s completely flooded, and your favorite cow decided to give birth to twins in a snow bank and then promptly prolapsed. Those are the times when a drab, fluorescent-lit cubicle in a government building actually sounds appealing.
But then there are days like today, when the sun is shining, it’s calm, the land stretches out in front of you forever, and the dog has her head on your shoulder. On days like that, it’s easy to remember why this lifestyle is so appealing.
