Deadlifts and Nunchucks

In my opinion, this workout would be a lot of fun if it wasn’t for the push-ups. I would also be a lot faster if it wasn’t for the push-ups. This is one of the first workouts I did with Steve back in September. According to him this time I was 7% faster while lifting 7% more weight. He was 14.5% faster with the same weight. I’ve also been dealing with a hyperextended wrist (from the Judo test on Saturday), which is somewhat problematic while doing pushups. So actually I was 7% faster with 7% more weight while being 7% more injured. Not bad.

Last night was Kyuki-do night. We went through some of the forms and self defense techniques with the lower belts and then we got out the nunchucks for fun during the last part of class. We rarely use them, so there was a lot of head whackage going on. It sounded pretty much like this: “Swish, swish, swish, BONK!” “Swish, swish, swish, BONK!” Thank goodness they were foam and not wood like the real ones. Master E. had a wooden pair and I think he put them through the ceiling once — and he knows how to use them. No wonder they are illegal.
