80 pound Sumo Deadlift High Pull, 7 reps
Box jump, 17″ box

Good one, if by good you mean on the verge of puking after five rounds. I’ve come to enjoy that sensation in a perverse sort of way. I love that one sweet moment after the last rep, when you’ve collapsed to the floor and the pain has just started to subside. I’m not sure I can even explain it — maybe other Crossfitters know what I mean. I wouldn’t call it a high, really. Relief that it’s over, the satisfaction of giving it your all, the luxury of knowing all you have to do for the next five minutes is lay on the floor in a pool of sweat while your heart stops hammering in your chest.

I was pleased with the box jumps. I hate anything that involves jumping — I think I have a jumping phobia or something. My goal is to get to a 20″ box, which may not seem like a lot to most people, but to me it’s huge. I think maybe the jump rope I’ve been doing in the warmups is helping, too. Although, probably in this case the SDHP sucked so much that the box jumps felt like a break.
