Ta-da! My latest “I made it myself out of junk” project – farmer’s walk handles. (Click pics to enlarge.) The middle red part is an old roller out of a baler, the ends are 2 inch pipe I found in the junk pile. It would have been simpler to make the whole thing out of one piece, but I didn’t have enough 2 inch pipe so I had to improvise.
For the handles, I just drilled holes through the red pipe, and through a 3/4 inch piece of pipe. then I ran bolts through both and put double nuts on the end.
I was going to weld the handles. Then I thought about how much work that would be and I got depressed. Then I thought maybe I’d drill holes and put eye bolts in, run chain through the 3/4 inch pipe and have handles that way. Then I thought about how much work that would be, and I decided to go the bolt route. Simple.
Plus, I can unbolt the handles and I have a fat bar. Bonus!
I loaded them up and took them for a test run, and they work great. Especially considering they are made out of junk!
